This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Popped in for a late dinner, about an hour before closing. We were seated immediately. Restaurant was nicely lit, tables were clean. Ordered a strawberry lemonade, fried gyoza (with chicken; not pictured since I was starving and ate it too fast), dumplings (also with chicken) with crispy onions and bean sprouts, I got the miso ramen (with chicken…appears to be a theme), and my GF got the Katsu Curry (yep, theme confirmed. Came with chicken). Fried gyoza was an easy 5/5. Perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce was divine. Will definitely order again. Dumplings had a nicely-sized piece of shrimp along with ground pork inside. Dumpling skin wasn’t too thin and wasn’t too thick. The sauce they came in was also quite tasty. 4.5/5. My miso ramen was delish. Broth was savory, ramen noodles had a nice chew…would also reorder. 4.5/5. My GF ‘s Katsu Curry…she said it was decent enough but it was kind of bland because there wasn’t enough curry sauce. She gave it a 3/5. All in all, we both said we’d be back. Next time I’m sure she’ll try a ramen dish instead, I’ll probably reorder what I got this first time.

Very cozy and tastefully decorated place! The menu is just perfect with enough options for everything- apps, ramen, veggies, etc. The vegetarian curry ramen is incredible with so much depth in flavor. They were also able to customize the tom yum ramen with vegetarian broth and it was SO good! The perfect balance of flavor and sour. The edamame was well cooked - firm enough and smoked! Would definitely come again - I just wish parking in Millburn overall was more accessible (always packed) but so worth it.

Sum Ramen is the greatest restaurant I've ever been to in my life! I go here once a week. I have been to many ramen places, but this place is just the absolute best. The food is perfect and perfectly priced, the staff is amazing and know their regular customers personally and are so pleasant to be around, the atmosphere is so comfortable and relaxed. I love coming here after work and on my days off.
